Q. My TAB bar for IE 8 has dissappeared so every time I open a page I have to open a window. I tried to right click the other toolbars to see if I can bring it back off but the option wasn't there. How do I get the TAB bar back up so I can have TAB's again?

A. Go into the internet options
on the first panel there is an option:
[Change how webpages are displayed in tabs]
Click [Settings] button
Click [Enable Tabbed Browsing] and restart internet explorer.

Is it possable to run windows 8 32 bit on a 16 gb samsung galaxy tab 10.1?
Q.

A. No. The Galaxy tab does not have sufficient specs to run Windows 8. The tab isn't optimized to run windows, only the OS that's included. You wouldn't be able to load explorer, IE, any other applications as just running the OS would take all of its computing strength

Q. Kalau tau kasih situs download sama cara install nya ya

A. I'll try to answer it but can you translate it in English please? I don't speak this language.

Internet Explorer 8 will not open links in a new tab or window?
Q. I am running Windows 7 and IE 8 will not open any links in a new tab or window. I have tried re-registering actxprxy.dll, disabling all add-ons, and resetting it to defaults. I am using AVG free and Windows Firewall. It will not open a link that is meant to open in a new window/tab, and when I right-click and select 'Open in new tab/window," it does open a new tab/window but it does not ever display the page. Any other ideas?

A. Go to internet options : select the settings under the tab category :

select the option : open links from other programs in " The current tab or window"
push ok and then open the new browser window and then click on any of the links
See what happens
Then go back to internet options and then select the other option as " A new tab in the current window
Then push ok and reopen a new browser window and see whether the links opens in a new tab or not.

Can't Open New Window Or Tab In Internet Explorer 8?

Posted by admin

Q. Hi people! So I downloaded this new Internet Explorer 8 and I can't open new window or tab. I mean I can still open it manually, if I will open the tab or window and type in the address, but if I click on some link, it doesn't work. Please help!

A. You should read this post from the IE Blog about opening new tabs - http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2009/07/18/how-to-make-ie-open-new-tabs-faster.aspx

It's likely that your tabs slowly opening (or not opening at all) are the result of an IE 8 Add-on or two. Does the behavior persist in No Add-ons mode? This post from the IE Blog will instruct you about troubleshooting Internet Explorer with Add-ons disabled - http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/07/25/678113.aspx

How do I change the site Windows Internet Explorer 8 goes to when I open a new tab?
Q. AOL 9.5 came installed on my computer, and it changed my default tab open page from the normal one that comes with IE (yes, I'm an IE user; shame, shame) to some AOL page. Does anyone know how to change the page that opening a tab takes you to? And I don't mean the option between a tab page, blank screen (about:Blank), and home page. Thanks.
I already know how to change my home page, but I'm talking about the seperate page that opens when I open a new tab only; not if I clicked Home or anything like that.

A. if you go into tools, right at the bottom of the list, there is internet options. click onto that, and it should be at the top of the new box that has opened up.
Home page.
just type in any url you wish to have in there.

Q.

A. When you open a tab that's associated with another tab (i.e. by ctrl-clicking a link or a few) IE changes their color to make colored groups of tabs for easy identification of groups.

Try it, sometimes they go purple :) When you have a few groups, each has its own color.

do you have to pay a monthly fee for windows 8 tablet?

Posted by admin

Q. Im looking into buying a windows 8 tablet, im not new to tablets i do have 2 ipads (1st and 4th generation) but i want to try something new other than apple. also is a windows 8 tablet exactly like a laptop, where you can download any programs to it or are you limited to downloading only apps like the ipad? i havent actually seen one of the windows tablets, but i would like to know more about the features, if someone could answer the questions above and add any additional information that would be great. Thanks!

A. you do not have to pay a monthly fee for windows 8 tablets if they are wifi only tablets.

A windows 8 RT device is the equivalent of an ipad. it will be limited to apps. They cant run desktop programs like Powerpoint, Word, Google Chrome, and stuff so DONT buy Windows RT

You need to buy Windows Pro because it can run all those programs.
these are some windows pro devices. they are pretty expensive but since they are equivalent to laptops, they are worth the price.

Sony Duo 11 (my favorite)
Lenova Thinkpad tablet 2
Lenova Yoga (also very cool)
dell xps 10
hp envy x2
Samsung ATIV Smart PC
the Surface pro will come out next year

is it worth waiting for Windows 8 to buy a tablet?
Q. I'm looking at buying a tablet, is it worth waiting for Windows 8 before i buy one? I have a Windows Phone 7 and i know how to work the Live Tiles well. Do you think that i should wait for Windows 8 to come out?

A. yes..look at asus upcoming line up of tabs/hybrids..

Will the Windows 8 version of Microsoft's Surface be more like a laptop than a tablet?
Q. I am tired of tablets. I like being able to create and edit files. Change formats. Install programs that are meant for PCs instead of approved apps. If the surface can be used like a tablet and have the functionality of a PC, I am interested in that. Will it work that way?

A. The Microsoft Surface Pro with windows 8 pro will be more for competing with ultrabooks than tablets. So it will do everything that your computer can do. So you can edit files, change formats, install programs, and do whatever else you would do on a computer or laptop. The surface pro can be used as a tablet (it basically looks exactly like the surface rt) but it will have the functionality of a pc. It will be like a laptop and a tablet replacement. It will be the best of both worlds.

Will "tablet companies" start making Windows tablet computer when Windows 8 comes out?
Q. Just wondering if there will be a lot of new tablet PC coming when Windows 8 comes out?

I know there are tablets now for PC but they are not very good.

A. windows 8 looks like the version that runs on the windows phones, so yes the tablets would make sense with windows 8 since it is targeting touch devices.
I cant believe the y think they can use windows 8 as a regular pc operating syste, a tablet os, and a phone os, they really need to rethink the pc part of it.

When are the first Windows 8 tablets coming out?
Q. Are they scheduled for 2012 or 2013?

A. Well, gee, that's probably going to be highly dependent upon when Windows 8 comes out, and since there is no solid release date, how should we know? Expect them to land right around the time Windows 8 does. That's about the best estimate you'll get.

is it worth waiting for Windows 8 to buy a tablet?

Any advice on upgrading to Windows 8 ? I am getting a very cheap offer.?

Posted by admin

Q.

A. I used for months now and faced many problems. One severe is HP LJ1100M printer stopped working. Release preview could not upgrade consumer preview etc etc. All such said, I suggest wait for installation, but u can buy the license code if it is very cheap.

Will Windows 7 get cheaper after 8 comes out?
Q. I'm going to get a gaming pc in a couple months (after Windows 8 comes out). I've heard that Win8 will be terrible for gaming so I want Win7 on my PC. Will Windows 7 get cheaper after 8 comes out? I also have a copy of WinXP that hasn't been used before, should I buy a Windows 7 upgrade from XP now and just install XP onto my PC than use the upgrade?

A. You might catch a sale at a somewhat cheaper price but I would not wait too long. I have played with Windows 8 twice in the last year. I have no idea what the final release is going to look like but if it looks anything like the previews I have played with I want nothing to do with it. I have plans on building another computer sometime in the future. I am so afraid of what Windows 8 might be like and that by the time I get around to it a copy of Windows 7 will not be able to be found to buy that I have already purchase 2 OEM copies of Pro 64 bit. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Why is windows 8 so cheap compared to windows 7?

Posted by admin

Q. I recently went in a computing shop and i seen windows 8 alot less than 7 i was wondering why ??

A. Microsoft just announced that for Windows 7 users, the price to upgrade to Windows 8 will be a mere $39.99. Thatâs a rather shocking number, if you put it in context. The move will boost Windows 8â²s launch, and help the Windows Store get off the ground in one piece.

Of course, by keeping Windows 7 sales rates up, the company is assisting its OEM partners.
The Figure

The $39.99 figure is for a digital download of Windows 8. A physical copy of the code will set you back $69.99. However, with the mass penetration of broadband, I donât anticipate the boxed edition of Windows 8 to be too popular. Thus, we can treat the $39.99 price point as the functional figure.

To compare, according to Amazon, an upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium can be had for just under $99, despite a listed price tag of $119.99. Heading to Windows 7 Professional will hurt your wallet a goodly $158.48, down from a list price of $199. And finally, an upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate costs $172.69, down from its sticker of $219.99.

Now, the download that Microsoft is offering is for Windows 8 Pro, not a starter edition. And the deal is open to any XP, Vista, or Windows 7 user. Roughly $40 for the âProâ edition, not $158.48? Thatâs big. This move by Microsoft, a radical price cut, must have a reason behind. We have a few ideas.
Launch

Microsoft will desperately want a Big Damn Figure to report after the launch of Windows 8, something to the effect of â10 million Windows 8 licences sold in the first 24 hours of its release.â Those lead to positive press cycles, and generate great buzz for a product, for free.

Thus, by discounting the upgrade path so steeply, Microsoft is setting itself up to move more units more quickly â the price point expires at the end of January - thus helping it not only sell more copies of the code, but also to help control its press campaign.
Windows Store

Related to the idea of a big launch is the fact that Microsoft needs to populate the Windows Store with consumers, quickly. Developers, building for the operating system, will expect a massive influx of new users once Windows 8 launches. Period. If the hordes fail to appear, expect the media to start writing stories about what a ghost town the OS is.

More importantly, no customers is bad for developers. Microsoft is betting heavily that its new platform will attract hundreds of thousands of new applications. If it doesnât, one of Windowsâs largest selling points to consumers, app diversity, stops being true.

Thus, the company needs to solve the chicken/egg problem essentially from day one. The apps will partially be there, but the customers need to show up. Cheap Windows 8 will help bolster opening day crowds at the Ye Olde Windows Digital App Marketplace.
Windows 7

And finally, by making Windows 8 so damn cheap, it ensures that no matter when a Windows 7 user bought their PC, they can scoot over. There is a a special price for folks who buy a Windows 7 PC from now until when Windows 8 comes out, but for those who bought their machine too soon, Microsoft is nipping any enmity in the bud, and boosting them over the upgrade wall.

All told, Microsoft pricing strategy with Windows 8 appears designed to get the maximum number of users on day one. Weâll see if it works.

Cheap way to cover 8 windows in our sunroom?
Q. Is there a way to use fabric or something? There are 4 bigger windows on one side and then 2 windows on either side of that wall. like this bracket [
we keep buying cheap blinds that break and look, well, cheap. any ideas?

A. Sheer white panels can be found afforably. To save money on rods, if you like modern, consider using thin metal cable through hooks and eyes as a rod. Electical alligator clips are a funky, affordable alternative to drapery clips.

The look is light and breezy, with an edge.

Q. I bought a new laptop with windows 7 a month ago so im eligible for the promotional price for windows 8, how do i get this and how do i install it and still keep the old windows 7 (instead of upgrading)

What are the fastest loading computer games?
Q. When I'm bored, I often feel like firing up a game to kill a few moments. Unfortunately most of the fun ones have multiple interminably long loading screens.
Are there any good games that go from start to fun in under 10s?
(Including, but not limited to casual and indie games)

A. Left for dead starts up fast for me but that could just be my computer...

What is a fast loading picture search engine?
Q. I need to look at some pics and i want a fast loading search engine,i have dial up..and google images and bing just don't work for me,what are some different search engines i can use?

A. It's dial-up that's not working for you. No matter which search engine you use, you still can't get the pictures any faster than 48kbps.

Where can I start if I want to build a fast-loading chatroom?
Q. I don't want to use one of those little Java chatrooms where you make one and they give you a simple embed code, I want all files and everything on my server/web space.
I know that I can make my own, but I mean how? Can someone give me a starting site where I can download a core source code or something? A guide maybe?

A. You can make your own -- the clients are typically in Flash, Java, or AJAX.

Edit: It depends on what technologies you know and how much you are willing to invest in learning -- who you are targeting for users. For the chat software projects I've been involved with, I usually wrote the server software in C++ or Java and the front-end clients were Flash, Java, and AJAX.

Flash benefits: Loads quickly, widely deployed, small to download, easy to develop for.

Flash drawbacks: Frequent security issues, Apple doesn't want to support Flash because it allows their users to circumvent their App store, plugin is required for the browser.

Java benefits: Easy to develop for, lots of functionality (full language)

Java drawbacks: Users must have Java installed, JRE is pretty big.

AJAX benefits: Minimal browser requirements (works with mobile devices), easy to develop for

AJAX drawbacks: Various browser issues, polling approach

You also need to consider if your users will be connecting from behind proxy servers (HTTP or transparent proxies) SOCKS proxies don't require anything special on your side.

What's the best program to buy for recording gameplay with great quality, and fast loading?
Q. 1. Good quality.
2. I want people to be able to hear me clearly.
3. When I'm saving the "movie" to my computer, I want it to not take 30 hours.

I just want to do "Let's play" video's for my friends.

Which is better a windows 8 non touch screen laptop or a refurbished MacBook Air?

Posted by admin on Sunday, December 16, 2012

Q. I want a MacBook Air/pro but a new one is too expensive so maybe ill get a refurbished one. But I also want a windows 8 laptop (without touchscreen) which one is better?

A. Depends what you want to use it for heres how it goes
Gaming: Windows
Video editing: Mac/windows
Browsing: Mac
Website building: Windows
Internet: Mac
reliability: Mac
Servers: Mac
Word: Mac
App Development: Mac
It all depends what you want it for.

Do you need a touch screen PC to use windows 8 or can it work on a regular pc?
Q. I've been thinking about upgrading my pc to windows 8,but it doesn't have a touch screen, and I've only seen pc's and tablets with tough screens use it. Would a regular pc work with this?

A. It's easy to get the impression that Windows 8 is built only for touch but I can guarantee that it works fine for keyboard and mouse.

I do recommend using the new keyboard shortcuts though.

Windows key (start screen)
Windows + C (charms)
Windows + Q (search - if on the start screen brings up all programs)
Windows + W (search for settings and control panels)
Windows + D (show desktop - oldie but a goodie)
Windows + X (power user tools)
Windows + Z (app bar - can get to all program when on start screen)

The tiles interface you've been seeing is the new start menu and it runs full screen. On a desktop you'll use it as much as you use the start menu so it's not on the screen all the time. There's a regular desktop mode that most users will stay in.

Windows 8 lets you use all the 3rd party software you're used to. It's only the Metro apps that must come from the Windows Store and be approved by Microsoft.

Is it worth updating to Windows 8 if my laptop is not touch screen?
Q. I have a toshiba c650 which obviously is not touch and so should I upgrade?

A. Nope. Windows 7 is much better. Anyone who uses Windows 8 must start over in learning Windows. Windows 8 is very different than previous windows. It is more suited for tablets and touch screen monitors. Windows 8 has made changes to the desktop. There is no start button and there is a new bar called the Charm bar for your settings, and configurations.

I upgraded to Windows 8 and my laptop is still not a touch screen?
Q. What settings in Win 8 do I have to change to enable touch screen? This is the whole reason I upgraded to Win 8
The whole reason for Windows 8 was to enable touch screen use. Can I get SERIOUS answers from people that know this? I just want to know how to make it touch screen.

A. The touch screen function usually built into the notebook's screen. Not many notebooks have this feature. If you want to make it into a touch screen, you may be able to find a touch screen overlay for your size screen. It has a usb cable that plugs into a USB port. what is the best notebook with multi-touch screen for windows 8?
Q. i've been searching for about an hour, and couldn't find any acceptable tablet. i'd like something like asus transformer but a bit more powerful and on windows 8.

A. The W500P is the professional version at a reasonable price.

What will be the advantages of windows 8 on systems without touch screens?

Posted by admin

Q. Compared to windows 7

A. I don't really know. I don't like touch screens because I like to "fiddle" with the mouse, and as I've said before, I would never ever buy Windows 8 anyway unless it comes with a Physical installation disk like our good old XP did. Greedy Microsoft.

Do you need a touch screen to use windows 8?
Q. or I should ask why upgrade to windows 8 when you do not have a touch screen.

A. Nope. I wouldn't bother upgrading to it if you have Windows 7 anyway. The UI is pretty sh1tty on PC, it's made for tablets and smartphones, I honestly don't think Microsoft has the right idea with combining all of their platform's OS's into one. Stick with 7.

Will Windows 8 give me a touch screen?
Q. I would like a touch sreen. I know Windows 8 is for touch screens but will it actually make my screen a touch screen?

A. NO
Touch screen is a hardware feature of a computer display. If your display does not have that feature, no operating system can give you that.

If I do not plan to have a touch-screen are there any advantages to upgrading from Windows-7 to Windows-8?
Q. I have a Netbook with Windows 7. Also I do not own a Smart Phone or a Tablet. I do also have a larger laptop which also has Windows 7 now. So what are the advantages of Windows-8 for me, if any?

A. Not really, and even if there were I would wait 6 months to a year. It will take that long to work the bugs out of 8.

is windows 8 good for a non touch screen?
Q. I got a netbook and I dont know if I should install it
My netbook is on windows 7, but I feel W8 is only for touch screen. It is seems that Microsoft only made the OS for tablets
@plutonic, do these restores work well? the pause on copying file is a good improvement but the OS itself is very touch screen friendly.....

A. If you got a netbook then don't install Windows 8. Most of them have screen resolutions too lower for the O.S.

Also, Windows 8 works just fine without a touch screen but I suggest anyone installing 8 learn the keyboard shortcuts as soon as they can.

Steam also works fine in Windows 8.

Is there anyway to uninstall Windows 8 Consumer Review and roll back to Windows 7?

Posted by admin on Saturday, December 15, 2012

Q. If i am gonna reinstall my windows 7, is my hard drive, personal settings, etc is gonna be format? or is it still the same as before

A. If you reinstall Windows 7, you're going to lose all the data you had before. You just can't uninstall an operating system like normal software because it's an operating system...you upgraded to an unfinished product and now you're going to lose most, if not all of your data unless you back it up. It amazes me that people are actually installing this as their main operating, are surprised that it sucks because it's unfinished, and then are surprised that they're going to have to reinstall their previous operating system (which may involve buying the installation DVD) and lose all their data...and this is exactly the reason why Microsoft should never release a Consumer Preview operating system again.

I accidentally made the mistake of installing Windows 8 Developer Review from the setup.exe. What do I do?
Q. I want to get back my windows 7 but I don't know how to do it. Please provide a detailed explanation on how to do it please.

A. I do not know the answer but how is windows 8?

What are the first reviews of windows 8?
Q. How is the new windows8?

A. Reviews are mixed, more bad than good unfortunately! Been using Windows 8 for six months now, and quite a bit more productively than Windows 7, I might add! I find myself forgetting how to navigate around Windows 7 anymore, (for the odd times I go over to that 'side'!)
If your machine is ready for 8, it's great; faster and quite a bit more improved features wise.
If you get 8, play with it intensively for a couple weeks and you'll be good to go!

will you be able to buy a product key for the release review of windows 8?
Q. im wondering whether if you can have the same as a genuine copy of windows 8 if you can buy a product key eventually.....

A. It's kinda complicated.

If you're testing Windows 8 and you installed it over a genuine copy of XP, Vista, or 7, then you can buy an upgrade key and it'll work fine.

If you did a clean install of Windows 8 then you'll have to buy the System Builder edition if you wanted to upgrade. I'm guessing the System Builder version will be more expensive than the upgrade version.

How to put windows 8 beta on usb without downloading special software?

Posted by admin

Q. I don't have admin rights so i can't download any special software. So how do u put the consumer preview of Windows 8 onto a usb without it? Please help. Thanks

A. Well You need to have a software for extracting the .iso file onto the usb.
Don't think you can do without it

What will happen to the people who downloaded the windows 8 consumer preview?
Q. Unfortunately I downloaded the Windows 8 CP and can't play any of my games. I also can't find my W7 installation cd so I'm stuck with it. When the full version releases, what will happen to those running the Consumer Preview?

A. Normally, the preview (beta) version will have a date after which it will stop working and all those who "participated" in the testing will be offered the release version at a discounted price. When the "death date" of the W8 preview comes along, you'll have to install an old version you have or upgrade to the new one.

I hope you reported the games you couldn't play. This is part of the important information that Microsoft is collecting during the preview period.

A. I don't think it will be significantly bigger that Windows 7.

How many downloads does the windows 8 pack allow?
Q. I know that Microsoft allows preorder of windows 8 for a $70 pack, but can someone search for me how many downloads the cd in the pack allows and if I can download it to multiple computers. Thanks.

A. That pack comes with one key for one computer. You can save some money by getting the download version from Windows.com on October 26th. It'll only be $40 per upgrade. The limit is 5 computers for that price according to the Windows Blog.

Windows 8 Review Preview problems?

Posted by admin

Q. So last night I updated to Windows 8 Review Preview. Today my laptop has suddenly stopped. It's weird though because I can still switch tabs (Chrome) and minimize the window, but it won't let me click on anything else. Also all music and videos stop mid stream. Has anyone else faced this problem?? Any help??

A. Windows 8 is a buggy little beta program. You're going to experience A LOT of issues between now and when your beta trial expires.

All Win 8 users are supposed to post on one of the Win 8 forums to share your bugs. That way Microsoft knows what bugs have been found so that they can be sure and fix it before they release the real Windows 8.

Thanks for being a tester for the rest of us. Good luck with your beta.

windows 8 reviews what do you think?
Q. so im posting this in the section i think the most tech savvy will be in what do you guys think about windows 8 its free right now and in dev but it looks like another vista
why
same desktop
same everything ive seen
they just added a new sceen and new features
what cons or pros do you guys see and do you think it will be a complete sucsess and be worth getting like windows xp and 7 or will it fail and be a windows me or vista

A. Hello there ?. I hope I can your question to the best of my ability. A lot of people on here think that Win7 was built from the ground up. Well, I can you now, it wasn't. What they did was to take the best parts from xp and that stupid vista and eventually turn it into the thing we now know as Win7. But as I said, it was not new. As for Win me, I wont even talk about that. haha. I think it will be a bit better here and there because they don't want another "WOW" factor on their silly hands. Hahaha. We will have to wait and see what Win8 is like when it finally comes out. Also, that greedy Bill Gates never supplied proper installation disks with Win7 as you would know, so you had to make your own they're by saving him money by not having to get third parties to make them and in doing so allowed him to make even more money. Your correct, it have a few more add on's to con you into getting it. But, unless it comes with a proper installation disk like our good xp did, I would never ever buy a Computer with Windows8 all ready installed. Sorry about the long rant, but it was the only way I knew how to explain it. Eric.

Windows 8 Consumer Review?
Q. after Windows 8 Consumer Review is over (for the official version to release), will I be able to keep Windows 8 CR without buying it?

or if I don't buy it, they will lock my computer? :/ , (since there's no way to uninstall an operating system.)

Im sorry it a stupid question but im really confuse

A. Microsoft will more than likely disable any beta releases after their official version of Windows 8 is released for sale.

Chances are you'll be given some kind of notice from within Windows 8, telling you that you need to purchase the full version. If you pay for a license key, the consumer preview version you have will more than likely unlock itself, install some updates and be as good as new.

Reviews of windows 8?
Q. Im kinda thinking about getting it for my alienware m14x. But im not sure. Whats it like? do you guys like it?

A. With your computer, it might run but I wouldn't recommend it. Very slow loading apps, The install took around 6hrs and that was an upgrade from w7 32bit w/2GB RAM. If you are a gamer and want to run your system at a high level, I suggest sticking w/w7 64bit.

Need reviews on Windows 8?
Q. Hi, I was thinking to install Windows 8 Developers preview. Any Suggestions, guides or reviews would be appreciated. Thanks

A. Are you aware that it expires on March 11? And frankly, it sucks. My husband is a MS fanboy and playing with it has convinced him to switch to Linux full time and use the PS3 and/or one of my older Macs for gaming.

You can download it from http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/apps/br229516 and there's an install guide at http://www.pcworld.com/article/240119/how_to_download_and_install_windows_8_on_a_new_partition.html
