How to install 3rd party themes in the Windows 8 Release Preview?

Posted by admin on Saturday, December 15, 2012

Q. Last month I installed the Windows 8 Release Preview. So I wanted to install 3rd party themes. Is there a program that patches my PC so I could install 3rd party themes like the Uxpatcher for Windows 7.

A. Maybe on the desktop but I doubt it on the Metro UI. As soon as they let this os loose though, there'll be apps comin out of the woodwork.

Can I upgrade Windows 8 Release Preview to Windows 8 in Bootcamp?
Q. I know that Apple released a Vista to Windows 7 application so that you can upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista in Bootcamp. What about Windows 8 Release Preview to Windows 8? Can I do this upgrade without any other software? If I need software, what would it be?

Thanks!

A. It can be upgraded but with a condition. First, you had to have installed release preview on top of an already activated copy of Windows XP, Vista, or 7.

When windows 8 releases will i still be able to buy win 7 home premium?
Q. i am buying a gaming laptop next year, im not loving metro at all and would prefer to win 7... 1 more thing, does home basic operating systems affect gaming any way? Is it recomended to use home premium even if primary use is gaming?

A. yes, it will be around for many years,
home basic, or "starter" edition are not good for 3D and some games, buy the home premium.

A. No one can say for sure, but most likely it will be for sale. They have never pulled the rug out like that on an earlier OS before. Here is MS link to their "end of sales" site. Windows 7 is still "to be determined".

Yes, you will be able to down grade as well from 8 to seven as well, but it might cost extra if you are ordering the system new. We saw this with dell when Vista was out, and everyone wanted to stick with XP.

Premium should be fine for gaming.
