Q. Im looking into buying a windows 8 tablet, im not new to tablets i do have 2 ipads (1st and 4th generation) but i want to try something new other than apple. also is a windows 8 tablet exactly like a laptop, where you can download any programs to it or are you limited to downloading only apps like the ipad? i havent actually seen one of the windows tablets, but i would like to know more about the features, if someone could answer the questions above and add any additional information that would be great. Thanks!
A. you do not have to pay a monthly fee for windows 8 tablets if they are wifi only tablets.
A windows 8 RT device is the equivalent of an ipad. it will be limited to apps. They cant run desktop programs like Powerpoint, Word, Google Chrome, and stuff so DONT buy Windows RT
You need to buy Windows Pro because it can run all those programs.
these are some windows pro devices. they are pretty expensive but since they are equivalent to laptops, they are worth the price.
Sony Duo 11 (my favorite)
Lenova Thinkpad tablet 2
Lenova Yoga (also very cool)
dell xps 10
hp envy x2
Samsung ATIV Smart PC
the Surface pro will come out next year

is it worth waiting for Windows 8 to buy a tablet?
Q. I'm looking at buying a tablet, is it worth waiting for Windows 8 before i buy one? I have a Windows Phone 7 and i know how to work the Live Tiles well. Do you think that i should wait for Windows 8 to come out?
A. yes..look at asus upcoming line up of tabs/hybrids..
Will the Windows 8 version of Microsoft's Surface be more like a laptop than a tablet?
Q. I am tired of tablets. I like being able to create and edit files. Change formats. Install programs that are meant for PCs instead of approved apps. If the surface can be used like a tablet and have the functionality of a PC, I am interested in that. Will it work that way?
A. The Microsoft Surface Pro with windows 8 pro will be more for competing with ultrabooks than tablets. So it will do everything that your computer can do. So you can edit files, change formats, install programs, and do whatever else you would do on a computer or laptop. The surface pro can be used as a tablet (it basically looks exactly like the surface rt) but it will have the functionality of a pc. It will be like a laptop and a tablet replacement. It will be the best of both worlds.
Will "tablet companies" start making Windows tablet computer when Windows 8 comes out?
Q. Just wondering if there will be a lot of new tablet PC coming when Windows 8 comes out?
I know there are tablets now for PC but they are not very good.

A. windows 8 looks like the version that runs on the windows phones, so yes the tablets would make sense with windows 8 since it is targeting touch devices.
I cant believe the y think they can use windows 8 as a regular pc operating syste, a tablet os, and a phone os, they really need to rethink the pc part of it.

When are the first Windows 8 tablets coming out?
Q. Are they scheduled for 2012 or 2013?
A. Well, gee, that's probably going to be highly dependent upon when Windows 8 comes out, and since there is no solid release date, how should we know? Expect them to land right around the time Windows 8 does. That's about the best estimate you'll get.
