Q. Compared to windows 7
A. I don't really know. I don't like touch screens because I like to "fiddle" with the mouse, and as I've said before, I would never ever buy Windows 8 anyway unless it comes with a Physical installation disk like our good old XP did. Greedy Microsoft.
Do you need a touch screen to use windows 8?
Q. or I should ask why upgrade to windows 8 when you do not have a touch screen.
A. Nope. I wouldn't bother upgrading to it if you have Windows 7 anyway. The UI is pretty sh1tty on PC, it's made for tablets and smartphones, I honestly don't think Microsoft has the right idea with combining all of their platform's OS's into one. Stick with 7.
Will Windows 8 give me a touch screen?
Q. I would like a touch sreen. I know Windows 8 is for touch screens but will it actually make my screen a touch screen?
A. NO
Touch screen is a hardware feature of a computer display. If your display does not have that feature, no operating system can give you that.

If I do not plan to have a touch-screen are there any advantages to upgrading from Windows-7 to Windows-8?
Q. I have a Netbook with Windows 7. Also I do not own a Smart Phone or a Tablet. I do also have a larger laptop which also has Windows 7 now. So what are the advantages of Windows-8 for me, if any?
A. Not really, and even if there were I would wait 6 months to a year. It will take that long to work the bugs out of 8.
is windows 8 good for a non touch screen?
Q. I got a netbook and I dont know if I should install it
My netbook is on windows 7, but I feel W8 is only for touch screen. It is seems that Microsoft only made the OS for tablets
@plutonic, do these restores work well? the pause on copying file is a good improvement but the OS itself is very touch screen friendly.....

A. If you got a netbook then don't install Windows 8. Most of them have screen resolutions too lower for the O.S.
Also, Windows 8 works just fine without a touch screen but I suggest anyone installing 8 learn the keyboard shortcuts as soon as they can.
Steam also works fine in Windows 8.
